Sea Island

My husband and I hope to live by the ocean some day so getting to design a home right off the coast of Georgia was an absolute dream. When Monica Lavin of Lavin Label and I began working together she told me that she really wanted to make her sunroom feel bright and fresh. The inspiration that the coast brings is just that so it was an easy task. I love the colors, materials and just overall vibe. Here’s how the design came to be for this gorgeous Georgia sunroom.

I wanted to make sure we had a mix of textures to give a collected look. It also helped to tie in rattan pieces to keep the vibe feeling coastal. Mixing materials is a fool-proof way to make a room really feel homey. When too much of the same material is used in a space it begins to feel cold and uninviting.

Colors are everything. They really set the tone for how the room will feel. I wanted to play off the colors and tones of the beach, so we went with strong blues with accents of green. Even the pattern on the pillows were strategic to help make the room feel tropical.

It was also important to keep the natural light in here. So we went with stationary curtain panels throughout the room, which still let some light pass through.

Monica wanted to incorporate pieces of art and accents from artists and vendors she admired. This helped make the room personal and one-of-a-kind for Monica and her family.
